Any work relevant to a project that is outside of our scope will be provided by experienced and established trade specialists that we know and trust.

Traditional Joinery & Woodworks
Our craftsmen are experienced in all aspects of carpentry including traditional joinery techniques that use only wood elements rather than nails, fasteners, bindings or adhesives. This is a vital skill for conserving the history of a structure and respecting its original design.

We are passionate and committed to timber conservation and repair. This is a specialist area of conversation requiring extensive knowledge of timbers, their properties and maintenance protocols so that the timber retains its intended qualities.

This art form is a favourite in our workshop where we work to fashion objects of wood into pieces that accentuate a building’s design or contribute to the historical significance of a building.

Ecclesiastical Woodwork
Ecclesiastical woodwork is woodwork and carving that is undertaken in places of worship such as churches, vestries and convents. We are well known for the design and production of ecclesiastical and fine art woodworking. The intricacy of these pieces can only be achieved by craftsmen with an intimate knowledge of Australian timbers and their symbolic meanings and historical uses.

Traditional Wood Finishes
Our services include varnishing, french polishing, guilding, polychrome oil paints and other traditional wood finishes to ensure a beautifully presented and authentic end product.

At Barnes Construction & Joinery, we are experienced in custom-built furniture design and construction, as well as the restoration of historically significant furniture pieces.

We are continually sourcing and repurposing old-growth timbers including, but not limited to:
- Red cedar
- White beech
- Queensland Northern silky oak
- Hoop pine
- Queensland maple
- Huon pine and
- African mahogany for use in conservation projects.
